Poland becomes the second country, after the Netherlands, to start trial checks for the recording of smart tachograph data remotely and while the vehicles are moving.

Information from the WHEELS & TIR magazine states that the tests will begin on a trial basis in the northern part of the country using DSRC (Dedicated Short-range Communication) devices, in order to establish the reliability of the system.
How will it be done?
In practice, a police vehicle or installation on a motorway bridge communicates with the smart tachograph software (smart 2) and instantly records a range of data such as speed, previous overtimes, last engine start, last toll crossings etc. .a.
The specific vehicle is then stopped at the following Truck Control, where the tachograph data is naturally examined by police officers and compared with the data recorded by the DSRC device.
What is achieved?
In this way, the reliability of the records is evaluated and solutions are sought (e.g. changing the device brand) in case of discrepancies.
