The first pilot photovoltaic park on unexploited highway slopes was developed by Nea Odos, with the aim of covering part of the energy needs of the project with clean green energy from the sun.
Photovoltaic park 102kWp
The photovoltaic park was developed on Ionia Odos, at the Messolonghi Junction and consists of four facilities, with a total capacity of 102kWp. The estimated annual production is 153.000 kWh and can cover the energy needs of 245 LED streetlights for a whole year.
Already, Nea Odos is investigating other suitable, unexploited areas within the projects it manages, in order to implement additional similar facilities.
Sustainable environmental policy
This action is another action to transform Ionia Odos into the most "green" highway in the country. Already in 2018, Ionia Odos is the only highway in Greece that offers the possibility of charging electric vehicles, along its entire length, almost every 30 kilometers, with each charger having the ability to charge up to 3 vehicles at the same time.
It moves green
At the same time, the implementation of the "New Road Go Green" initiative, which started at the beginning of the year, continues. In particular, Nea Odos became the first highway operation, maintenance and management company in the country, which put the first "green", 100% electric vans into operation. These vehicles will initially be used as maintenance and work performance vehicles, making the strategic goal of protecting the environment a reality.
It works "clearly"
Finally, it is worth noting that Nea Odos started the implementation of a plan to replace most of its vehicle fleet with electric and hybrid ones, while at the same time it completed the installation of 18 electric vehicle chargers, covering all of its building facilities. The goal is to replace at least 20% of company vehicles with electric and hybrid vehicles by the end of 2021.
