Schmitz Cargobull has developed a new Eco range of adaptable trailers, with impressive capabilities and improved features. These allow consumption to be reduced by up to 5%, making it easier for transport companies to cope with changes in European legislation. Thus the new CO2 levy that is gradually being introduced into transport with fossil fuels.
Increases due to pollutants
The charging levels of 25 euros per tonne of CO2 produced by oil and natural gas consumption (in transport) will gradually increase towards the range of 55 to 65 euros per tonne. The use of aerodynamically adapted trailers by carriers enables them to save money.
EchoFlex
With EcoFlex, Schmitz conservatively calculates the benefit at around 7.700 euros per one million kilometers or at least 900 euros per year. This is because if e.g. half of a truck's journeys are made with the trailer roof down (in "aerodynamic mode") and the rest in maximum load volume mode (with rear height changes).
The variable shape of the new Eco Schmitz trailers manages air resistance more efficiently, resulting in maximum fuel consumption.
New models
The new generation of Schmitz Cargobull is available in EcoFIX, EcoFLEX, EcoVARIOS types (stacked pallets, up to 3 meters internal height).
The roof is raised manually using a hydro-pneumatic pump while the height is adjusted via brackets.
The modular 'Modulo' system remains the basis of the new trailers, allowing Eco series bodies to be combined with the X-Light frame for even lighter weight.
Telematics everywhere present
All trailers in the EcoGeneration series come standard with Schmitz Cargobull's TrailerConnect® CTU telematics system.
The new trailers completed in the first quarter the tests in cooperation with transport companies and are available in regular production.
